Cestello Annnunciation

The Cestello Annnunciation By Sandro Botticelli 1489     I chose this piece because of the colors used. While most (if not all) renaissance paintings are undoubtedly amazing, many use less vivid and darker colors. In paintings like this, you can (in my opinion) see more detail because of the lack of shadows. I think this gives it much more of an awe factor because of the detail that is available due to the light portrayed.     The main emotion I see in this painting is reverence if that counts as an emotion. The entire painting exudes it. The colors add to this in a light and calming way, instead of dark and ominous, and presents a peaceful reverence.  I would not own this, as I am not especially into renaissance style, especially if it pertains to religion. However, if I was to pick a renaissance painting to own, this would be near the top of the list due to the bright colors.     This painting was made for a member of the Giovanni family, to be in a ...

APPRECIATION OF ART

This is Dragon Sculpture by Hung Yi. It is in New Taipei City in Taiwan and was finished in 2018. I love every aspect of it. From the color to the shape, to me, it seems like it radiates some "psychadelic energy" and I very much enjoy that and hope to see it one day. The main two artistic elements that I see in this beautiful piece by Yi are the contrast of colors and the form taken by this sculpture, with the flowing curves of the body blending together. I like how the contrast of so many colors makes this an immediate eye-catcher, added to the already large and eye-catching nature of the sculpture. If I could own a copy of this it would be amazing, I would put it in front of my house one day. I really like the brightness, or high value, of this work of art, and how you could not miss it even if you tried. Yi really did an amazing job making the lines flow together in the pattern, and the 3D shape is smooth and even, allowing the entire sculpture to flow from nose t...

Hello and welcome to my blog! ( I sincerely hope you get the joke that is the URL.) I am a second-ish year UAF student focusing on a degree in Elementary Education. I enjoy spending time adventuring in the outdoors spending quality time with friends. I grew up in Alaska and love every aspect of it. My hobbies include snowboarding, camping, biking and just about any other activity that gets me out in nature.  I love all art that involves many colors. I would say that I am a very artistic person, in the way that I like to express myself in my art. I enjoy creating digital art and designing clothing and throwing ceramics. I find ceramics a very fun and enjoyable way to create art because of the color scheme that is attainable, and the surprise of never knowing how a glaze is going to turn out, and the way that the glazes mix and blur, as seen in the picture above.  This is a link that I found particularly interesting.           http://www.harwo...
